Fighter Weapons Instructor Course (FWIC)

The overall aim of the Fighter Weapons Instructor Course is to develop weapons and tactics experts capable of instructing, refining, and developing tactical capabilities within their respective units. The syllabus is tailored to the customer’s operational requirements following an initial planning meeting.

Course Subjects

As an overview, the course will include at least the following subjects:

  • Air-to-Air operations.
  • Air-to-Ground operations.
  • Offensive Counter Air (OCA).
  • Defensive Counter Air (DCA).
  • Operational mission planning and tactical employment within complex air operations.

Training Using Tactical Aircraft Operations

The training may be conducted in the client’s country and should include at least the following subjects:

  • An extensive ground school phase covering tactical subjects such as Air-to-Air, Air-to-Ground, Offensive Counter Air (OCA), and Defensive Counter Air (DCA).
  • Practical flying exercises designed to apply the knowledge gained during the academic phase.
  • Mission planning, briefing, execution, and structured debriefing to reinforce tactical understanding.
  • Participation in coordinated tactical missions culminating in a Combined Air Operation (COMAO) phase.

Located between Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake, the city is strategically positioned at the junction of major highways and approximately three hours from Toronto. North Bay is well connected by road, rail, and air, and features Northern Ontario’s longest 10,000-foot runway, supporting a wide range of aircraft operations and ensuring excellent accessibility for domestic and international students.
